Lately I have been noticing tons of photos on Instagram of smoothies in a bowl! At first I found it really weird. Why would you want to eat your smoothie with a spoon like soup? I thought the whole purpose of a smoothie was that it was fast and easy to consume. But I didn’t want to be missing out on the cool food trend, so I decided to try one out when I had time this morning. It was fun to make and even though it kind of felt like I was eating cold soup, it was fun to eat as well. The best part was decorating the top. I highly suggest if you have kids to do this with them! Since I don’t, I entertained myself by trying different things on top and making sure that they didn’t sink. Here is what I came up with for my first smoothie bowl.

GREEN SMOOTHIE BOWL
Ingredients for smoothie:
1 handful of kale (spinach would work too)
2 medjool dates, pitted
1 cup almond milk
1/4 cup green yogurt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp. peanut butter
1 tbsp. chia seeds
1 tbsp. ground flax or protein powder (optional)
Toss everything in the blender and mix until desired consistency is reached. Pour into a bowl and top with anything that you wish!
